I’m so happy to have finished migrating all of our Blog content from blogger.com to a newly completed WordPress website business blog.
Even though I teach technology, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know everything, and I make mistakes. I thought that because Google owned Blogger, that blogging on their platform would have been the best choice for search engine optimization (SEO). Well, after a year of blogging my brains out (not just here, but other blogs as well). I was not seeing the SEO benefit of Blogger I had hoped for – and I started researching WordPress. I felt like I chose Betamax when I should have gone with VHS.
After doing some research, I dove in the deep end and did my first manual “WordPress famous 5 minute install”. Five minutes, my butt! But I got through it, and within 60 days, not only my root URL, but my individual posts were indexing high in the Google rankings. I learned that even though Blogger and the search engine results departments were both “Google”, I’m guessing that they weren’t talking to each other.
So here it is, 2009 and I am thrilled with my WordPress website business blog. Next step will be to completely redesign the entire site from static HTML to WordPress’ PHP and MySQL content management system (CMS).
