Beginner WordPress Website Design – Adding Pages to Menus
Alright so I think we’ve hit the basics on post and the good news is that pages are pretty much the same way; pages are pretty much identical. With the one exception that after you had a new page, you got to remember to go to appearance and go to menus. And when add a new page like if we added a page 3 it would be right here. Now looking at this, it just comes to my attention that we have no home page; I want to add a homepage. So I’m gonna go to custom links and the URL is going to be http….i want to paste this in…. So http:// the name of my website: WordPress web site secrets, our link text is going to say home and then I can add that to the menu.
Now here is the other thing you do not want to us, I should have said this earlier: you do not want to use internet explorer when you are updating your WordPress site. Both chrome and Firefox handle WordPress better; ok? So I can grab this and move this now, I’m left clicking and dragging and I can put my homepage right there and then I can say save menu. And then when I go back to the site it actually has home, it’s highlighted because that’s the page that I’m on. And if I go to page 1, page 1 is highlighted and go back home. There’s my beautiful cow article. So I think I’ve pretty much over done it at this point, I hope that I have conveyed to you how unbelievably easy it is to create a WordPress website and add content. Those are the basics that’s the foundation, there’s tons more to do, lots of videos more to follow. I hope that gives you a sense for how easy the stuff really is, so I’m Steve signing off until the next video, hope to see you there.
